The first thing I noticed when biting into the Piñata apple was that it had tough flesh. The second was that it tasted very fruity and sweet. It starts off with a zesty sweetness then transforms into a acidic tang. The flavor is hard to pin down: it has elements of a tropical sweetness, a zesty sort of sweetness, and a normal apple sweetness. Then there is the tang at the end, and the bitterness of the skin. It has an extremely complex flavor, which might be why they decided to name in Piñata: once you break into it a bounty of flavors fall out.
