Cortland apples are another type of fall apple. When I bit into it I thought it was going to have crispy flesh: the skin was tough to break into. I was wrong though, the flesh is moderately soft. Not all apples benefit from having crunchy flesh, and this one works well with the softness. There is a good amount of juice in it, and it tastes great. The first wave of flavor is tart. The next is sweeter. Together they make the sort of flavor apple cider has. Very balanced. It is not as sharp or punch-y in flavor as other apples, but it has good character if that makes any sense. Feels like a fall apple with the more cider-y flavory. I really liked it.
