The Cabot Classic Vermont Cheddar Cheese is a white cheddar cheese that, as the name suggests, comes from Vermont.
The packaging also says that it is “seriously sharp”, and it does not lie. This Cabot Classic Vermont Cheddar Cheese starts off smooth, but then that sharp trademark Cheddar bite comes through and takes over. The taste is indeed sharp–and it is scrumptious. The tang combined with the smooth white cheddar flavor is fantastic. This pointed flavor profile and smooth beginning gives it a strong potential for pairing.
Its texture and body also helps tremendously. This white cheddar cheese is firm, allowing it to easily be grated and melted for making cheese bread/grilled cheese, topping a soup, or mixing in with baked dishes. It can, of course, also be eaten with apples and jam. It can be used in basically any suitable application for cheese, except for times when a cheese that crumbles is needed. This cheddar is far too dense and solid to be easily crumbled, but, as I said, it grates marvelously well.
It is a staple for me because of that versatility and its flavor. In my household, when we need cheese in a dish, the Cabot Classic Vermont Cheddar Cheese is what we choose for it. We always have a block ready because it is so often used. So I have to recommend this cheese. I hope this cheese can occupy the same space for someone else as it does for me and my household.
