The Golden Delicious apple is one of the typical sights at generic grocery stores. A constant apple feature. Does its mainstream appeal have any tangible basis?
Not very much, in my opinion. The Golden Delicious apple is hesitantly sweet. A one-note, lull fest of sweetness that did not captivate me. The flesh was tender and filled with juice, but so much so that it became almost mushy. It had nothing that defined it as unique. It was really boring. It does not deserve to be called ‘delicious.’
There are many other options out there, asides from the Golden Delicious apple, that are superior to it. Pick out a different apple; it will have more use and flavor.
