The Cyprus Grove Humboldt Fog is a veined goat cheese. As you can see from the pictures, it is a typical crumbly goat cheese. Not typical is the cream that separates the cheese and the rind. This substance is a honey-like cream, for lack of a better term, that binds the fluffy body with the tender rind in both structure and flavor. Very smooth and fluffy. Flavor is pleasant and delicate like most goats but underwhelming.
I appreciated the uniqueness of the Cyprus Grove Humboldt Fog. Definitely one of the more interesting goat cheeses I’ve had the pleasure of trying, but I wish it was stronger and more defined in its flavor profile. It needed something to bring out its flavors. I found jelly or something savory-sweet worked well with it.
