The Louisville Vegan Jerky Co.’s Maple Bacon flavored jerky is, I think, the first vegan jerky that I’ve had. For some reason, I decided on the Maple Bacon flavor. They had a good variety of options, but I went with the maple bacon… not sure why. It spoke to me, despite me not being that attracted with bacon in general.

Actually trying it, though, it doesn’t speak to me as much as I oddly hoped it would. The flavor is too smoky for me. It does taste good, but I think the other flavors the brand has to offer would be better for the jerky product itself. The texture of the jerky is excellent and it feels substantial to eat. I just don’t think the Maple Bacon flavor does it optimal justice for me personally.

So I will probably pick up some of the Louisville Vegan Jerky Co.’s other flavor offerings. I did enjoy this jerky, but I think it was an suboptimal flavor pick on my part. Still good, though, and I recommend this vegan jerky—especially if the smoky bacon-ish aspect is enticing!
As an aside: I want to say that the bag was a pain to open. That is all.
