Miyoko’s vegan mozzarella, made with organic cashew milk, comes in a circular puck. It seems like real mozzarella, but the visuals are easy to nail. But the texture and taste? Texturally definitely it seems like mozzarella. Taste…honestly, I don’t remember the exact flavor of mozzarella beside it being sort of milky and sometimes tangy and I think that came across in Miyoko’s vegan alternative.
But, admittedly, I didn’t really eat Miyoko’s mozzarella in plain form (besides a few nibbles). We used it all in PIZZA! We grated it into shreds and put the shreds on top of the pizza before cooking so we’d have a melty cheesy top. It melted pretty well and added that nice texture to our pizzas.
So it served its purpose well. Would I get it again? Well… This would probably be a special occasion purchase only as it was pretty pricy. I would only recommend it or get it if you have the specific need for vegan mozzarella—which makes sense anyway since this feels like a specialty product. You’ll know when you want it or need something like it.
