The Smitten apple appears unassuming. It has the countenance of any other ‘red’ apple. Stripes of red and yellow. Decent size. It looks plain. Its taste is not. It has a delectable tang that sings with its undertones of sweetness that become stronger the closer the flesh you get to the core. The sweetness can become too much, bordering on honey-like. Eaten raw it can be overloading. Rounding off the entire experience is a perfectly crisp apple flesh. There is just the right amount of juice and crunch. I am not entirely smitten with the ‘Smitten,’ but it is a solid, above-average apple.
