The Sweetie Apple name says that it is going to be sweet, and, hopefully, delicious. In its shape it shows itself as a taller, more oblong fruit. The color of its thin skin are a flush of red, yellow, and orange. The combination of shape and hue give it a rather nice look to it.
But appearances really aren’t what make an apple good. The flavor and texture together is where the true worth of an apple resides. And the Sweetie Apple only marginally lives up to its descriptors. It is crispy, yes, and has sweetness to it. The crunch it has is quite good and I really enjoyed that part of it, but I felt the sweet aspect of the Sweet Apple needed some more kick. It faded into the background pretty quickly. It really did not have much staying power, but it was tasty.
The Sweetie Apple, thus, is an above average apple with some great crunch and some not-so-spectacular sweetness, contrary to its name. I would get it again for its crisp flesh and nice juice, but it doesn’t rank highly on my list of go-to apples.
