The Chocolate Garage is a San Francisco based company that, surprise surprise, sells chocolate. They do not make the chocolate they sell, rather they stock a variety of brands and sources. One of the things they sell is a chocolate tasting box that has a collection of around eight or nine different bars. They have two different tasting box types: The Purist and The Playful.
This post is looking at the The Chocolate Garage Purist box, which is about tasting purer chocolates without other flavors mingling in.
This Purist box contained nine chocolate bars, along with little chocolate nibs (the things wrapped in purple.) The nibs were quite tasty.
The bars that came in this version of the Chocolate Garage Purist box were:
- The Brasil Areté 70%
- The Grenada Chocolate Company 71%
- The Domori Guasare
- The Dick Taylor Bolivia
- The Chocolat Bonnat
- The Ritual Chocolate 75%
- The Askinosie Tanzania
- The Francois Pralus Tanzanie
- The Dandelion Chocolate Madagascar 70%
Each bar has their own review page that you can get to by clicking the name of the chocolate.
Overall, I didn’t find this box that spectacular. After tasting all the bars I found them to be quite similar to each other. Only a few definitively stood out in my mind and taste buds. But this could be a biased appraisal because I also learned through this process that I do not like chocolate all that much. Trying the Chocolate Garage Purist box was an interesting experience, however. A good one? I can’t really say. If you like chocolate, I’d try it out. If not, I wouldn’t bother.
